I use the term "cutting table" very loosely because this project is actually on my dining room table. I have most of my sewing stuff on one half of my 1-year-old's room, and my other stuff bleeding into my living room and dining area.
And, another exciting thing that happened this week is that I made my first Etsy purchase! I know, I know. It's about time, you say. Here are pictures of the fabulous vintage patterns that I am anxiously awaiting.
The last two patterns are Polynesian patterns that I have been eyeing for a while. Speaking of Hawaiian dresses, I have been asked to do some costumes for my daughter's Halau and I am beyond excited. I can't wait to see some costumes up close this weekend because there is a big event in Sacramento that we are going to called Aloha Festival. Stay tuned for photos tomorrow:)
Hello Nicole. Just found your blog and I commend you for all you do and for starting a sewing business. Some years ago I did the same. It is lots of work. After reading your posts about a lady who was somewhat surprised at the $45.00 price for a custom costume, I had flash backs. Anyway, during that time in my life (my business was part-time with two active children and a full time job) I discovered a group of professional sewists on Yahoo. The name of the group is "Sewbiz." Among them are professional sewists for absolutely anything you could imagine. Check them out. Introduce yourself. They can help you with business plans, accounting, contracts etc. If you are going to do this as a business, the site archives are full of information. I don't mean to sound a negative note, just a cautious one. All of us who sell our custom products have been in situations that a little preparation could have helped. Hope your sewing career grows by leaps and bounds. Your daughters are absolutely lovely, you are indeed blessed.
